The landscapes of the Douro River in the hands of Pedro García
On their way through Peñafiel (Valladolid)
met Pedro García Álvarez through his wife, Flor , which years ago was my student at the University Permanent "Millán Santos", an initiative of the University Valladolid to extend training to adults, decided to continue learning in the new youth that opens to get to the Jubilee stage. Since then I have maintained a cordial relationship, even could say that friendly, with this pair of tireless travelers, sensitive observer of what is happening around him and spirited supporters of the noblest causes.

Yesterday I attended the opening of the exhibition Peter presented Gallery of Art Foundation Andrés Coello Valladolid, to which belong Board since its inception. I went to the event for two reasons: because it was an exhibition on the work of his friend, and because I was focused on a topic that fascinates me, the Douro River, the river of my land, the river of gold from the Romans. Spent working in the company throughout his career, Peter rushes forward to the task of painting when I have the feeling that you have time, sensitivity and talent. It does as a way to vent their creative and cultural concerns by putting all the effort that is able to, through watercolor, space currency, the landscape that attracts, copper body and subsist forever in the recovered image.

del Duero The course allows all that and more . Since wildland Soria of the Iberian Cordilla in Urbión to the mouth in Oporto a mosaic of landscapes are woven into a unique tour, which has attracted attention from all cultural and scientific perspectives. I shall not detail what that course represents. I will simply record the quality and expressiveness of the images that Peter has built carefully prepared with patience and care to convey the myriad of shades, shapes and colors associated with the landmarks by which the river runs.

have chosen, above all, the station that best portrays the beauty of that space. None mean it like autumn in all its spectacular and chromaticism. Groves, bridges, buildings, terrain, ... converging to make this a showcase collection of paintings representing some of the best landscapes that have these lands of Spain. On seeing them come to mind the names of Antonio Machado, Claudio Rodríguez, Gerardo Diego ... . the great singers of the Duero, whose poems have created an excellent environment interventions that celebrated the opening certainly as pleasant as the chords of the violins, superbly played by our wonderful friends Javier Sanz, created a wonderful atmosphere on stage, bringing some of the best composers of the Baroque. The truth is that view, the way I did upon arrival, while the sounded Water Music by GF Handel is an experience not to forget.
